Selective Surgery

Super smart batch selection by name, type, component, text content, or visibility.

Selective Surgery is a plugin for Figma that makes bulk editing a breeze. It offers a convenient palette of methods to quickly get your hands on the layers you need. Whenever you find yourself cmd + click'ing, use Selective Surgery instead!

1) Launch the plugin

Use the Plugins > Selective Surgery menu item

or better yet...

Use the quick actions bar (⌘ Command + /). Find Selective Surgery in the list!

2) Choose your operation 🔪

➤ By Name - select layers by name

💡 Selective Surgery will aggregate all unique names in the current selection scope and provide helpful fuzzy matching.

• does not include
• matches regex

➤ By Component - select layers by a specific component instance

💡 The plugin will pull up all unique components used in the current selection scope

➤ By Type - select layers by their native Figma type

➤ By Text Content - select objects by text contents

➤ By Visibility - select layers by whether they are hidden or shown

Conditions:

• is not

3) Do something with your selection!

Examples:

• Bulk update text styles across deeply nested layers
• Concurrently paste the same things into multiple frames
• Blast all the pesky hidden layers in your DS that slow everything down
• Skillfully rename all those pesky Frame 134081 copies
• ...or any normal design task you might do in Figma
