About this plugin

Ok, well not everything. Currently the everything toolbox does four things

https://www.jpdesign.info/everything-toolbox

Quick Actions

Make selecting layers a lot quicker. Select more similar layers, less layers, layers within layers...

Text Merge

Setup lists of data and easily merge it into your document, either by layer name or by selecting your text.

Default text

Set a default style for all of your new text boxes. Reduces the time spent messing with styles.

To use there must be a style called _default which will be your default text style and the plug-in must be running!

Frame/Art-board manager

Add your own custom sized frames to Figma, create your standard layouts without having to use components

Expose Properties

Surface children components’ properties when nested in parent components. Only supports Text & Layer properties right now.

Update - This feature has recently become a little redundant. Figma has released this feature natively. I'll keep this feature in for now, but you can consider this deprecated

If this has saved you some time, please consider supporting me buymeacoffee.com/?via=JPDesign

How to use

Text merge

First things first, you need to load your lists. We have some default ones for you here (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zUKLsdsPHdoY9EhydyBKMDDECUTIyMOMSF-bnJ0WAPA/edit?usp=sharing), but to add your own go to ‘Edit lists’, copy it out of the text area (don’t try to edit it in that little box) and paste it into Google sheets

Make any edits you want and paste it back in, hit save and you’re done

There are two ways to merge your lists:

Naming layers, the first way is to name your layers to be the same as your list titles. Then just select a bunch of stuff and press merge.

Alternatively if you just want to merge a specific list to a bunch of text boxes, you can just select the text boxes, select the list and it will merge for you. This will find all the text in the area you selected, so if you want to be precise make sure you select the right layers.

Exposed Properties

To simply expose a property, go to the component that has another instance of a component inside, select the instance (It can’t be an instance in an instance, but you can expose the property in that instance and then expose it further up, like a chain of props!)

That’s it, you can now use the exposed prop. The Everything Toolbox needs to be running when you change the prop.

When a property is exposed it will create a hidden group called _matadata, this is required to link the property. If you delete this the property will no longer be linked.
