🌟 Figma File Organizer Plugin

The Figma File Organizer Plugin is a powerful tool designed to streamline your design workflow by allowing you to organize your Figma files with ease. With this plugin, you can create folders and subfolders, helping you keep your design assets structured and accessible.

Configuration

- Create a figma personal access token (it is recommended to create a token with no expiration period, all the other settings will be left on default) and save it for later

  - While making sure you are signed into your figma account in the web browser, open https://www.figma.com/api/user/state in a new browser tab

  - In the downloaded JSON file, search for "personal_drafts_folder_id" and save the value associated to this key (this is your drafts folder id)

  - Open the plugin and go to the Configuration tab

  - Insert in the forms the figma personal access token and the drafts folder id that you saved above and press the Save config button

🙌 How to Use

• Accessing the Plugin:

  - Open a Figma file.

  - Navigate to the Plugins menu.

  - Select "Folder structure" from the list of installed plugins.

  - Use the folder structure functionality from the Folder Viewer tab

• Creating Folders:

  - Click the "New Folder" button or press CTRL+Ins.

  - Name your folder and press "Enter."

• Managing Folders:

  - Drag files onto folders to organize them.

  - Press F2 with a folder selected to rename it

  - Delete the selected folders by clicking the Delete button or pressing the Del key

• Drag-and-Drop:

  - Drag files between parent and child folders for quick organization.

• Copy-Paste files and folders:

- Select the files and folders that you want to copy and press CTRL+C or use the left menu buttons

- Go in the destination folder and press CTRL+V or the left menu buttons

🛑 Limitations and Restrictions

Due to the way the Figma plugins work, there are some limitations:

- Files can not be modified (Created, Deleted, Renamed) from this plugin, only organized under folders

- You have to first access a file, then open the plugin to be able to view the folder structure

- When opening files, they are opened in a new browser tab

- ⛔ Be careful when clearing cookies and local browser storage as you will lose your folder structure

- Files can not be moved outside the Drafts folder

- Currently the plugin allows only Drafts management
