If other people need to understand your designs, it’s best to name layers to minimize confusion. It’s also a time sink however. SmartRename eliminates any tradeoff by reducing the time to a few button clicks.

FAQ:

• Q: How do I apply rules for renaming layers?
• A: Simply add a new rule in the plugin UI. Be explicit and concise with what you want SmartRename to do or not do. For example, if you don’t want text elements to be renamed, you could add a rule that says “NEVER rename text layers”.

• Q: Why isn’t this free?
• A: Using the AI model is not free and it would have to be run at cost if it was free for users. We also need to generate income in order to be able to work on and improve this and other cool plugins in the pipeline.

• Q: But will it rename layers the way I want it to?
• A: Not always on the first attempt, but you can tweak the rules to apply with simple English, and you can usually get what you want after a few tweaks.
