About this plugin

This plugin allows you to add or remove a red semi-transparent overlay to selected frames in Figma. It is designed to visually mark work-in-progress (WIP) elements directly within the design interface.

How to use

1. Select one or multiple elements. Currently supporting: Frames, Auto-Layout Frames and Text.
2. Run the plugin.
3. When a frame is selected, the plugin checks for an existing overlay named 'wip'. If found, it removes the overlay; if not, it creates a new rectangle with a red semi-transparent fill and positions it to cover the entire frame. When a text is selected plugin adds a red semi-transparent fill with the same logic.
4. To delete the overlay or fill run the plugin again.

This plugin supports frames with Auto Layout, adjusting the overlay accordingly.

You can expect a straightforward way to highlight and manage WIP items in their Figma designs, with limitations around specific node type support.

Add the plugin to Keyboard Shortcuts:

1. Settings -> Keyboard -> Keyboard Shortcuts... -> App Shortcuts
2. Press [+] button and choose "Figma".
3. Write the plugin name "wip!" in menu title. Add shortcut combination. I personally use control + option + w.
