Duplicate Master Component

About this plugin

This is a simple plugin that lets you select one or more components and/or component sets and duplicate them as new master components/component sets, preserving their properties. This plugin makes up for a basic missing feature in Figma—when you copy/paste or duplicate a master component, it creates an instance of that component. When creating a design system, it's often useful to actually duplicate a component as another master component, for example, to create another button based on a previously made button. Using this plugin, you can do this very easily, instead of having to create an instance, detach the instance, and then re-create all of the properties.

This version of the plugin is dead simple and consists entirely of a single action, with no UI. In later versions I plan to add an optional UI that allows users to select which properties of selected components they would like to preserve during duplication, create multiple duplicates, and perhaps some other features like configurable names and naming templates for duplicated components. :).
