Layer Manager

About this plugin

Layer Manager is designed to improve your workflow by providing quick access to important layer management functions. 

This plugin focuses on three primary operations: listing layers, controlling layer visibility, and renaming layers. 

Getting Started

1. Open your Figma design file.
2. Select the layers or frames you want to manage.
3. Search for the Layer Manager plugin from the Figma plugin menu.
4. Launch the plugin. 

Basic Operations

Viewing Layers:

After launching the plugin with your desired layers or frames selected, you'll see a list of all the layers within your selection.

Toggling Layer Visibility

Individual Layers:

1. Find the layer you want to toggle in the list.
2. Click the visibility icon next to the layer name to show or hide it.
3. The change will be immediately reflected in your Figma design.

All Layers:

1. Use the "Hide all" button to hide all layers in the list at once.
2. Use the "Show all" button to make all layers in the list visible.

Renaming Layers:

1. Locate the layer you want to rename in the list.
2. Click on the layer name to enter edit mode.
3. Type the new name for the layer.
4. Press Enter or click outside the input field to confirm the new name.

Refreshing the Layer List:

If you make changes to your selection in the Figma file while the plugin is open:

1. Click the "Refresh layers" button in the plugin interface.
2. The layer list will update to reflect your current selection in the Figma document.

Searching Layers:

1. Click on the search bar at the top of the layer list in the plugin interface and type in your search term. This could be: a layer name or a layer type (e.g., "rectangle," "text," or "group").
2. As you type, the layer list would dynamically update to show only the layers that match your search criteria.
3. To clear the search and see all layers again, simply delete your search term.

Tips for Efficient Use

1. Start with a focused selection in your Figma file to manage specific groups of layers more effectively.
2. Use the bulk hide/show actions to quickly toggle visibility for comparing different versions of your design.
3. Regularly refresh the layer list if you're making changes in your Figma file while the plugin is open.
4. Rename layers directly from the plugin to maintain consistent naming conventions without switching contexts.
