About this plugin

Variable Collection Importer lets you safely align and merge variable collections across Figma libraries. Generate a structured preview of name‑based matches, choose exactly which variables to remap, optionally pull in extra target‑only variables, and create missing collections while keeping full control. Imports all the collection modes as well.

Key Features

- Library & collection discovery: Scans the current file plus all enabled libraries, enumerating each variable collection and variable count.

- Name-based candidate matching: Builds match sets by comparing local and target variable names within mapped collections (no fuzzy magic—transparent and predictable).

- Alias import & preservation: Detects aliases in target collections and imports or rebinds them so referencing relationships remain intact (no flattening to raw values).

- Extras handling: Shows target-only ("extra") variables separately so you can optionally import them into the local collection.

- Missing collection creation: Creates local collections that don’t exist yet when you choose a target collection for a local placeholder.

- Mode alignment: Mirrors target collection mode structure (names/order) into newly created or existing local collections when possible.

- Per-variable granular control: Checkbox toggles for each matched and extra variable; bulk actions (Select matched, Clear matched, Select both, etc.).

- Alias relationship integrity: When remapping, keeps alias chains pointing to the proper target variables instead of breaking them into literals.

- Non-destructive opt-in: No variable is changed unless it’s explicitly selected in the Preview; empty selection = no operation.

- Transparent summary: Real-time counts of matched and extra variables before you commit.
