About this plugin

Description

A powerful Figma plugin that allows you to scale multiple selected objects individually, each from their own reference point. Unlike Figma's built-in scaling which treats selections as a group, this plugin scales each object independently while maintaining precise control over the scaling method and anchor point.

Features

  1. Three Scaling Modes:
  2. Percentage: Scale objects by a percentage (e.g., 50%, 200%)
  3. Width: Scale objects to a specific width while maintaining aspect ratio
  4. Height: Scale objects to a specific height while maintaining aspect ratio
  5. Reference Points: Choose from 9 anchor points for scaling
  6. Live Preview: See changes in real-time before applying them
  7. Quick Presets: Fast access to common scale percentages (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, 200%, etc.)
  8. Undo Support: Cancel anytime to restore original state

Using the Plugin

➊ Install the Plugin

  1. Visit the plugin page in Figma Community
  2. Click "Install" to add it to your Figma account
  3. Access it from Plugins → Scale Each Selection

➋ Select Objects

Select one or more objects in your Figma canvas that you want to scale. The plugin works with:

  1. Frames
  2. Groups
  3. Shapes (rectangles, ellipses, polygons, etc.)
  4. Text layers
  5. Components and instances
  6. Any other scalable objects

➌ Choose Scaling Mode

The plugin offers three modes, accessible via the segmented control at the top:

1. % (Percentage Mode)

  1. Scale objects by a percentage of their current size
  2. Values greater than 100% make objects larger
  3. Values less than 100% make objects smaller
  4. Example: 50% makes objects half their size, 200% doubles their size

2. Width Mode

  1. Scale objects to a specific width in pixels
  2. Height adjusts automatically to maintain aspect ratio
  3. Useful when you need objects to match a specific width

3. Height Mode

  1. Scale objects to a specific height in pixels
  2. Width adjusts automatically to maintain aspect ratio
  3. Useful when you need objects to match a specific height

➍ Set the Scale Value

For Percentage Mode:

  1. Type a value directly in the input field, or
  2. Use the dropdown menu to select a preset (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, 200%, 300%, 400%, 500%, 1000%)

For Width/Height Mode:

  1. Type the desired dimension in pixels

➎ Choose Reference Point

Click one of the 9 reference point buttons to choose where scaling should anchor from:

  1. ⏹️ Center (default): Objects scale from their center point
  2. ↖️ Top-Left: Objects scale from their top-left corner
  3. ⬆️ Top-Center: Objects scale from the top edge center
  4. ↗️ Top-Right: Objects scale from their top-right corner
  5. ⬅️ Center-Left: Objects scale from the left edge center
  6. ➡️ Center-Right: Objects scale from the right edge center➡️
  7. ↙️ Bottom-Left: Objects scale from their bottom-left corner
  8. ⬇️ Bottom-Center: Objects scale from the bottom edge center
  9. ↘️ Bottom-Right: Objects scale from their bottom-right corner

Tip: The reference point determines which part of the object stays in place while scaling. For example, scaling from top-left keeps that corner fixed while the object grows/shrinks toward the bottom-right.

➏ Preview (Optional)

  1. Live Preview is enabled by default (eye icon is highlighted)
  2. As you type or change settings, you'll see the changes applied in real-time
  3. Click the eye icon to toggle preview on/off
  4. When preview is off, changes won't be visible until you click "Apply"

➐ Apply or Cancel

  1. Apply: Click to apply the scaling and close the plugin
  2. Cancel: Click to revert all changes and close the plugin

Scale Each Selection simplifies the process of resizing multiple objects in Figma by giving you precise control over each element individually.

Whether you're standardizing icon sizes, creating design variations, or fine-tuning layouts, this plugin streamlines your workflow with intuitive controls and real-time preview. Select your objects, choose your scaling method and anchor point, and apply – it's that simple.
