About this plugin
Bring the model you trust into Figma.Genable is a design agent that turns a detailed brief into native Figma structure. It works directly with the scene graph, so the result stays inspectable and editable instead of becoming a flattened image.WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENTUse your model — Connect OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or an OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Genable validates the connection before the first design run.Build design structure, not just a picture — Create and edit frames, Auto Layout, components, variants, variables, vectors, and pages in one agent workflow.Give each brief a visual direction — Audience, content, brand, and mood shape hierarchy, typography, density, rhythm, surfaces, and data presentation.Check, then refine — Genable can inspect structure, review screenshots, and read back writes before it finishes. Keep editing directly in Figma or continue with follow-up messages.TWO WAYS TO USE GENABLEInside Figma — Add your model provider and API key, describe the brief, and refine the result in conversation. From an MCP client — Run genable-mcp locally and let Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, Cline, or another STDIO MCP client operate the canvas through the Genable plugin. The MCP client supplies the model, so this path does not need a model API key in the plugin.HOW IT WORKSDescribe the design intent. Include the audience, content, brand, aesthetic direction, and constraints that matter.Genable plans and builds. It turns the brief into editable Figma structure with the tools the design requires.Review and refine. Inspect the layers, edit them directly, or describe a focused change while keeping the existing design in context.COST AND CREDENTIALSGenable itself is free to use. In plugin mode, model usage is billed by your provider and its limits still apply. API credentials are stored in Figma client storage. Requests go to the endpoint you configure; some presets can use a relay when browser-network constraints require it. In MCP mode, usage belongs to the model already configured in your MCP client.

Users bring their own LLM provider key + endpoint, including custom OpenAI-compatible relays they type in Settings, so http(s) hosts cannot be enumerated ahead of time. Requests run from the plugin main thread (Figma proxies them server-side; no browser CORS). ws://localhost:3458 connects to the user's locally-installed Genable MCP server (genable-mcp on npm) for AI-driven canvas editing from Claude Code / Cursor / Cline; websocket schemes are listed explicitly alongside the wildcard.
