Live Squircle

About this plugin

Live Squircle creates superellipse shapes (squircles) as vector layers and edits them parametrically. While the plugin is open, changing a control updates the selected shape on the canvas in real time. Resizing or transforming the shape on the canvas updates its width and height, and the squircle is recalculated to fit.Each shape's parameters are stored on its layer, so a shape can be reselected and edited again later, including after the plugin has been closed and reopened.Corners are generated as a cubic-Bézier approximation of the superellipse, which produces continuous curves and compact vector path data.FeaturesLive editing: Changing any control updates the selected squircle on the canvas in real time.Re-editable: Parameters are stored in the layer's plugin data. Reselecting a shape restores its parameters, including after the plugin is reopened.Superellipse corners: Curves use cubic-Bézier segments with arc-length sampling.Vector path output: Shapes are written as vector path data.Canvas transforms: With the plugin open, resizing the shape on the canvas updates its width and height and recalculates the curve.Corner radius: Set as a percentage or an absolute px value. The px value is clamped to the short side.Corner aspect: Blend corners between 1:1 (circular) and the shape's aspect ratio.Create New: Adds a new squircle that inherits the fill, stroke, and effects of the current selection.Controls: Exponent (N), width, height, segments per quadrant, corner radius, corner aspect, and Reset.How to useRun the plugin. With nothing selected, set the parameters and click Create New to add a shape to the canvas.Select a squircle made with the plugin to edit it. Adjusting a control updates it on the canvas.Resize or restyle the shape on the canvas, and reselect it later to continue editing.
