About this plugin
Spelling & Grammar Checker — User GuideA Figma / FigJam / Slides plugin that finds spelling and grammar mistakes in the text layers of your file and fixes them with one click. It runs fully offline — a bundled Hunspell English (US) dictionary ships inside the plugin, so nothing you write ever leaves Figma. What it doesScans every text layer on the current page, or only inside your selection.Applies a fix to the actual text layer with one click — original styling is preserved and any required fonts are loaded automatically.Lets you build a per-file ignore list for brand names, jargon, and product terms. It works with regular text layers, sticky notes, shapes that contain text, and connectors. How to use it1. Choose a scopeAt the top of the Proofread tab, pick what to check:Whole page — every text layer on the current page.Selection — only the layers you’ve selected on the canvas. If you select a frame or section, every text layer inside it is included. If you choose Selection with nothing selected, the Check button is disabled and a hint appears: “Nothing selected — pick a frame, section, or text layer.”2. Run a checkPress Check. The button shows a spinner and the panel reads “Checking text layers…”. Large pages are processed in chunks so the UI stays responsive. When it finishes you’ll see one of:All clear — “Checked N text layers — no issues found.”A summary line — “Found N issues across M layers.” — followed by the results.3. Read the resultsResults are grouped by layer. Each group shows the layer name, a count badge, and a Locate ↗ button. Inside each group, every issue row contains:A colored badge — red for spelling (the misspelled word), yellow for grammar (the rule name, e.g. Repeated word). The surrounding context, with the exact problem text highlighted. One or more action buttons (see below).4. Fix an issueSpelling — up to 5 suggestion buttons are shown. Click one to replace the word in the layer. Styling is preserved and fonts are loaded automatically.Grammar — a single fix button shows the corrected text (e.g. an, could have, I'm) or a label like “Fix repeated word”. Click it to apply. After a successful fix, the issue disappears and the remaining issues stay correctly positioned. If a fix can’t be applied you’ll see why (see troubleshooting).5. Filter by typeOnce a check has results, the All / Spelling / Grammar pills appear under the tabs. Click one to narrow the list. The counts update live as you fix or ignore issues.6. Ignore a wordFor correct words the dictionary doesn’t know (brand names, jargon, product terms):From a result — click Ignore on a spelling row. Every occurrence of that word is removed from the results immediately. From the Ignored Words tab — type a word and press Add (or Enter). The ignore list is saved in this file and applied to every future check. Words are stored lowercase and matched case-insensitively. Remove a word any time from the Ignored Words tab with Remove.7. Dismiss a grammar issueGrammar rows have a Dismiss button instead of Ignore. Dismiss simply hides that one issue for the current session — it doesn’t add anything to a list, and the issue can reappear on the next check.8. Locate a layerClick Locate ↗ on any layer group to select that layer and zoom to it on the canvas — handy for finding the offending text in a busy file.
