About this plugin
Your icons. Your UI kit. Your entire screen. What could they become in pixels?Pixel art does not have to start with a blank grid.Pixel Native turns existing Figma designs and even images into hard-edged pixel artwork, in place on your regular Figma canvas. It handles the repetitive pixel reconstruction so you can spend more time on the shapes, colors, and details that make the work yours. You are not limited to drawing a small sprite in a separate plugin canvas. Start with an icon, an illustration, a game HUD, a retro interface, or a map you already designed.Pixelation is not the finish line.Keep shaping the result. Refine your design tokens. Edit a label. Recolor a shape. Remove pixels that do not belong. If the pixel version reveals something to improve in the original, revise your source and convert a fresh copy. The plugin builds the pixel geometry. You make the art decisions. What you can work with- Images: turn an image into editable, pixel-shaped vector layers rather than another flattened image.- Existing designs: pixelate selected vectors, shapes, boolean shapes, and frame artwork.- Text: use pixel fonts with editable text, convert letters into vector shapes, or leave text alone.- Pixel perfect alignment: use the separate Snap mode to align eligible positions, sizes, and vector points without pixelating the artwork.- Refinement: preview your choices and cut unwanted cells with the eraser. How to use Pixel Native1. Select the artwork you want to pixelate: If you want to keep the source, duplicate the artwork first. Pixelate changes the selected artwork in place. Keeping an original gives you a reference and a source you can edit and reconvert.2. Snap first, if useful (Optional): Snapping is optional. For an alignment pass before conversion, choose Modify → Pixel Perfect → Snap. This gives you greater control of your art by ensuring you have taken care of source inconsistencies. It does not turn curves into pixel-art edges or convert text.3. Choose your pixel treatment: Select your artwork and choose Modify → Pixel Art. Use Include to choose the layer types to process. Choose a 1, 2, 4, or 8 px brush size. For text, choose Pixel font, Flatten, or None.4. Pixelate: Click Pixelate when ready. If you want to inspect the result first, use Preview without changing your selected originals or spending a free conversion. Exit preview before pixelating. For gradients, choose Steps (banded) or Keep original when prompted. Steps creates banded colors for a more traditional pixel-art treatment, converting effects too. The Keep original route retains your design tokens, combining Figma's design workflow with pixel-art geometry. Resizing can make edges soft again; pixelate in place to bring them back onto the grid. Convert a main component to update its linked instances; overrides can affect what each instance inherits. If you are converting artwork inside instances instead, choose whether to detach those instances or leave them untouched.5. Direct the final look: Continue editing the resulting Figma layers. Adjust shapes and colors, and edit text that remains text. To remove pixels, click Erase, place red marks over the cells to remove, select the vector artwork, and click Cut marked cells. Choose Through all layers or Top layer only for the cut. The marks indicate where to cut; your selection determines which artwork is affected. Changed your mind before cutting? Cancel clears the marks and leaves the art alone.6. Iterate between your versions: If a shape needs a different starting point, or you would rather edit the smooth version, return to your retained source and pixelate a fresh copy. This is a design loop, not an automatic pixel-to-smooth reverse conversion.Want a pixel-to-smooth option? Tell us through Menu → Contact us → Feature request.Export through Figma when ready. For PNG pixel art, use Basic image resampling in the advanced export settings.A few useful boundaries- Editable does not mean every original relationship stays unchanged. Recheck layout and pixel alignment after resizing.- Detaching an instance leaves its library component untouched, but the detached copy is no longer linked.- Pixel-font conversion depends on font availability. If a required font cannot load, the affected layer stays editable text and the plugin reports the problem. Only Flatten converts text into vector outlines.- Image conversion can simplify colors into a smaller palette.- Work on selected content in your existing file. Large or complex selections take more time and depend on your machine's capacity.- Want a blank starting point? Create makes an empty pixel grid up to 512 × 512 cells. That limit applies to creating a new grid, not to the dimensions of your existing Figma canvas.5 free conversions every month. No per-layer quota.One-time upgrade for unlimited conversions.Free- 5 Pixel Art conversion runs per calendar month.- Multiple layers can be processed together in one run. Large selections depend on your machine's capacity and the artwork's complexity.- Your allowance counts conversion runs, not individual layers. Empty selections and failed runs do not spend a run.- Snap is free and unlimited.- Preview and Create do not use a conversion run.Unlimited Pixel Art conversions, one-time payment- Individual: $22 for 1 user.- Team: $79 for 5 users.- Studio / Org: $599 for unlimited users.Buy at https://enkaria.com/checkout and activate with the license key from your purchase email.Start with a copy of one design you already know.
