About this plugin

Open any file you did not make this week and the Layers panel is a wall of "Frame 234", "Group 12", "Text 4". TidyUp fixes that in one click, and it does it entirely on your machine.NOTHING LEAVES YOUR COMPUTERNo network requests. Ever. The manifest sets networkAccess to none, so your layer names, your text content and your file data cannot leave your machine even if something tried. There is no account, no upload, no AI service in the loop. TidyUp stores exactly two things locally through Figma's clientStorage: the auto-rename toggle and your max name length. That means it is safe on NDA work and unreleased product.THREE TOOLS IN ONE PANEL1. RENAME text layers to "Role: Content"Every text layer becomes something you can read at a glance: "Heading: Authentic BBQ Experience", "Button: View Portfolio", "Link: Privacy Policy".The role comes from real structural signals, not from guessing at existing names:Link: Figma's own hyperlink propertyButton: sits inside a small, rounded, auto-layout parentHeading: font size 28px or largerSubheading: font size 20 to 27pxLabel: three words or fewerBody: everything elseFrames, Groups and Sections are named from the first text found inside them, in reading order. Containers with no text anywhere inside are left alone rather than guessed at. Component instances always keep their component-based names, so your design system stays recognizable.Three scopes: Selected Only, Whole Page, or Whole Figma File (every page, not just the one you are looking at). There is also an optional "auto-rename while typing" toggle. When it is on, a text layer's name updates shortly after you stop typing. Toggle it off any time at the top of the panel.2. REARRANGE layer hierarchy into reading orderSelect a frame, group or section and TidyUp sorts its children top to bottom the way a person reads them, with backgrounds sunk to the bottom of the stack. It is deliberately conservative: anything whose children visually overlap is skipped entirely, so it can never change what renders in front of what. Auto-layout frames and anything with a locked child are skipped too.3. FIND AND CLEAR CLUTTERScans the current page for layers that are probably junk: empty frames and text, true 0x0 layers, accidental duplicate siblings, fully off-canvas layers, and hidden or 0% opacity layers.Nothing is ever deleted automatically. You scan, review the full count and breakdown, optionally select everything on canvas to eyeball it first, then confirm. Only "Empty layers" is checked by default. Every other category is opt in.SAFETYLocked layers are never touched, in any mode.Zero-size only flags layers where BOTH width and height are 0, so dividers and hairlines are safe.Off-canvas only flags layers with zero overlap, so bleeds are safe.Every change is a normal Figma edit, so Cmd/Ctrl+Z undoes all of it.It's free, forever.
