About this plugin

Varlint finds the values in your file that should be variables and are not, tells you which variable each one should be, and binds them.YOUR IT REVIEW CAN CHECK THIS, NOT TAKE MY WORDVarlint declares no network access, and Figma prints that on this page beside the last-updated date — so the person who approves plugins where you work can confirm it without contacting me. Your variables and your layers are already in your file; nothing about them leaves your machine, there is nothing to sign in to, and no usage is measured. There is nothing to fill in on a security questionnaire, and no service that can go down and take the plugin with it.ALL 46 PLACESFigma allows a variable in forty-six different places: sizes, spacing, corners, stroke weights, fill and stroke colour, every text property, effects, layout grids and component properties. Varlint looks at all of them. That number is not typed in by hand — a test reads Figma's own type definitions and fails if the two ever disagree.IT SAYS WHICH VARIABLEFinding a raw value is the easy half. If a variable in your file already holds that value, Varlint names it. If none does, it says so. It never offers to invent variables for you — your token set is yours.DECISIONS, NOT ROWS"Every padding of 16 should be spacing/md" is one decision that happens to touch thousands of layers. Varlint shows it as one row with the count on it, so a file's worth of work is a list you can actually read before you agree to it.IT FOLLOWS YOUR FILE, NOT A RULEBOOKVarlint reads how far your file has already got in each group — colour, spacing, corners, text — and only ticks the ones you are visibly already doing. A file that has never bound a width is not asked to start. When several variables hold the same value, the one your file already binds there wins. Nothing is guessed from variable names.WHEN IT CAN'T, IT SAYS SOEvery binding is read back after it is written, and anything that did not take is listed with the reason: the layer is gone, the variable is gone, Figma will not allow it there. A binder that fails quietly is worse than one that fails.FREE AND PAIDThe audit is free, for ever: scan any page or the whole file, see the coverage figures, and see which variable every value should be. $5 once unlocks unlimited binding in every file you open. No subscription.
