Coverset reads every instance of your components and tells you which versions are actually in use, which of the possible combinations have never been used once, and where each one lives. Then it writes the answer back into your file.YOUR IT REVIEW CAN CHECK THIS, NOT TAKE MY WORDCoverset declares no network access, and Figma prints that on this page beside the last-updated date — so the person who approves plugins where you work can confirm it without contacting me. Your components are already in your file: there is nothing to upload and nothing to sign in to. Nothing about your work leaves your machine — including how you use the plugin, which is not measured either. There is nothing to fill in on a security questionnaire, and no service that can go down and take the plugin with it.WHAT YOUR FILE ACTUALLY USESA component with a few properties has an enormous number of possible combinations, and a file normally uses a small part of that space. Coverset counts both sides — the combinations in use and the combinations never used — and shows the coverage for each component set, and for the file as a whole. It is a figure about your file, not a verdict on it: a version nobody has used yet is not called a mistake anywhere in this plugin.ALL FIVE KINDS OF PROPERTYFigma has five kinds of component property: variant, boolean, text, instance swap and slot. Only two of them can be listed from the component definition alone, so counting that way can never reach the other three. Coverset counts what is used instead, which is why text and swapped instances are in the totals as well. That is not typed in by hand — a test reads Figma's own type definitions and fails if the two ever disagree.DECISIONS, NOT ROWS"Size=M, Type=Rich, Bold=on, used here" is one row with the count on it, however many instances it stands for. Values shared by every row move up into the heading, so the part that actually differs is what you read. A whole file becomes a list you can go through before you agree to anything.NARROW IT DOWNType part of a name or a property value and the list narrows to the versions that carry it — the set name is often the same on every row, so the values are what you are actually looking for. Alongside it are the things only the counts can tell you: versions nested inside other components, hidden ones, ones Figma reports overrides on, ones from a library, local ones, ones whose main component is gone, and ones used exactly once. What you have narrowed to is also what the buttons act on, and anything ticked that falls outside the filter is named and left alone rather than quietly changed.THE WHOLE FILE, AND A STOP BUTTONScan the selection, the current page, or every page. Progress and what is left are shown while it runs, and you can stop it — whatever was already read stays on screen.WHEN IT CANNOT READ SOMETHING, IT SAYS SOSome component sets carry errors that Figma itself refuses to describe. Coverset puts those sets at the top of the list, by name, in Figma's own words, instead of quietly counting them as zero. Every write is read back afterwards, and anything that did not take is named with the reason.TABLES OF WHAT IS USED, OR OF WHAT IS NOTTurn any component set into a labelled table: the versions in use, or the combinations that have never been used, laid out with their property values. You choose which, and the count is shown before anything is placed — never the whole combination space by surprise. A table is made of real instances, so building one moves your own coverage figures.
