About this plugin
A local-first Figma plugin for internationalization (i18n) layout testing. Generate longer, accented text to spot clipping, awkward wrapping, and spacing issues before translations are ready. Will your layout still work when the text gets longer?LocaleCheck helps you explore that question before translations are available. Select a frame or text layer, choose your settings, and create a pseudo-localized test copy—without changing your originals.Built for internationalization (i18n) workflows, it replaces eligible text with longer, accented versions so you can visually inspect how your designs handle text expansion. What you can doStress-test text length: choose +30%, +60%, +100%, or a custom expansion percentage.Add accented characters: inspect how substituted characters render.Add boundary markers: make clipped beginnings and endings easier to notice.Protect placeholders: preserve supported tokens such as {name}, {{amount}}, and %s.Preview before applying: compare original and transformed text inside the plugin.Keep originals untouched: create a separate test copy for inspection.Understand skipped layers: see which text layers cannot be processed and why.How to useSelect a frame or text layer.Choose an expansion level and optional transformations.Review the text preview.Click Duplicate & test.Inspect the duplicate for clipping, wrapping, and spacing problems.Improve the original layout and test again.Local processing, no translation serviceText processing happens locally in the plugin. No design text is sent to external services by LocaleCheck.Content added to your document remains subject to Figma’s normal storage and syncing behavior. What to knowThis is a layout stress tester, not a translator. Pseudo-text does not reproduce any particular language.Expansion increases character count—not rendered text width. The preview uses system text and does not reproduce your design’s font metrics.Required fonts must be available to modify text layers.Numeric-only layers are excluded by default, with an optional setting to include them.Layout issues are inspected visually; the plugin does not automatically certify accessibility or localization readiness.Real translations and runtime testing are still needed before release.Find fragile layouts early. Design with translation in mind.
