Sometimes Figma variables aren’t coming from inside the house. While this plugin has a likely very tiny amount of potential users, if I can help anybody save any time trying to locate and replace variables that are orphans or “remote”, then this has been worth it.

For whatever reason, variables in Figma can be attached to other libraries, older files, archived files even. This can cause major headaches when editing local variables and components don’t seem to respond to the edits.

I fully expect this plugin to have a limited lifespan as Figma themselves will likely improve variable handling during copy/pastes, schema renaming or other scenarios where variables can be orphaned.
