About this plugin
What Isotop helps you do
- Define and manage core color variables as a single source of truth
- Link and unlink design tokens to core variables — individually or in bulk
- Generate and evolve color palettes using reproducible recipes
- Work safely at scale with sandbox previews, Undo / Redo, and explicit syncing
- Maintain clarity in complex systems with smart suggestions and conflict detection
Isotop is a professional tool for managing color systems in Figma, built for designers and teams working on real design systems — not just individual color edits.
It helps you create and maintain a clear, resilient color architecture based on core variables and explicit relationships between colors. Whether you are working on a small product or a large, multi-collection system with deep dependencies, Isotop keeps your color logic structured, predictable, and scalable.

Core Variables & Smart Linking 🔗
Isotop works exclusively with variables that already exist in Figma. It does not create, rename, or restructure variables.
Instead, it allows you to define which variables act as core colors — the foundation and single source of truth for your system.
Once core variables are defined, design tokens can be linked to them individually or in bulk. Smart suggestions surface only the most relevant core variables, reducing errors and eliminating unnecessary searching.
Autolink and conflict resolution make relationships explicit and predictable, even in inherited or highly complex systems.

Palette Generator 🎨
The built-in Palette Generator lets you create balanced color palettes from a single seed color. It works with any palette structure and fully supports both single-mode and multi-mode systems.
Instead of relying on fixed presets, palettes are generated using reusable recipes. This makes them easy to review, refine, and safely evolve over time. All changes are previewed in a sandbox before being applied, preventing accidental system-wide updates.

Safe Sync & System Stability 🔄
Isotop is designed around a non-destructive workflow. By default, all changes remain temporary until you explicitly sync them with Figma.
Pending updates are clearly highlighted, and Undo / Redo is available for all core actions, including bulk operations.
This approach makes it safe to experiment, refactor, and scale color systems without risking breaking changes.
___________________________________
Isotop supports exporting collections and variables to JSON with all alias relationships preserved. A session-based Activity Log provides visibility into linking actions, detected conflicts, and system warnings, helping teams maintain a healthy and transparent color architecture.
Isotop reflects how modern design systems are built — structured, intentional, and designed to scale.
