About this plugin

Localize UI and translate marketing visuals efficiently with Crowdin plugin for Figma.

Crowdin is a cloud-based localization management platform that speeds up and automates localization. Trusted by GitHub, Pipedrive, GitLab, Buffer, and Magento, it helps companies of any size localize their apps, websites, games, marketing content, and more.

Use Cases

Crowdin plugin for Figma will be of use if you:

  1. Create multilingual user interfaces and want to provide clear experiences across markets. Learn more.
  2. Collaborate with other teams on mobile applications or software localization.
  3. Need to quickly translate static visuals like social media graphics, posters, blog visuals, and more. Learn more.

Synchronize Localizable Content Across Tools

Crowdin integration with Figma works both ways. You can send designs for translation and upload them back to Figma for further customization.

When localizing UI, you can synchronize content between Figma, Crowdin, and your repository on GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, and Azure Repos. Your engineering team can use Crowdin API and CLI to set up instant content synchronization.

Prototype with the Real Copy and Test Translated Versions

Once the production-ready texts are uploaded to Crowdin, you can stop using Lorem Ipsum in your mockups.

Get the list of source strings, use the real copy in your mockups, edit texts if necessary, and send new strings for translation with the keys and screenshots for translators.

Upload translated mockups back to Figma and customize them before the development starts.

Set up Continuous Workflow for App Localization

App localization can now start at the prototyping step:

  1. Designers send texts for translation to Crowdin with the keys, tags, and screenshots.
  2. Translation teams work on the texts in Crowdin.
  3. The translated variants are tested and customized back in Figma.
  4. Development teams then download source and translate files from Crowdin and integrate them into the codebase.
  5. Works in Figma Dev mode, allowing developers to quickly inspect the text layer and get all information about the string, including its file or key.

Use Different Translation Approaches

In Crowdin, texts can be pre-translated via AI or Machine Translation engines (Google Translator, DeepL, Microsoft Translator, and others). You can also invite your in-house translators, freelancers, or an agency. Crowdin will create Translation Memory automatically, so you will be able to reuse translations and pre-translate texts using your TM in the future.

Human translators will have sufficient context while translating your content. When working on UI localization, you can automatically upload screenshots to the localization project.

When translating static pages, like posters and banners, translators will preview full frames in Crowdin and see the visual context for every text.

How to Set Up

To get started, you will need a Crowdin account and a localization project under it. You can create a new project, or ask for manager access to the existing one.
